Rich Oddie and Christina Sealey, aka Orphx, have been creating their unique fusion of rhythm and noise for many years, combining techno propulsion with experimental techniques and critical themes of industrial music. Founded in 1993, Orphx's legacy spans three decades of work across different genres and music scenes, moving from audio/visual noisescapes in local clubs and art galleries to worldwide tours and performances at techno clubs, festivals, and underground events. Drawing influences from the more experimental fringes of techno, electro, and dub, their distinctive sound used powerful layered rhythms, modulating soundscapes, and processed vocals and samples to explore personal struggle and social control themes. Working closely with Germany's Hands Productions label, the duo gained an international following as one of the pioneering acts both within the European "rhythmic noise“ scene and the later industrial techno movement. This crossover approach is reflected in their releases and collaborations acclaimed releases on labels like Sonic Groove or Hospital Productions and remix work for a wide variety of artists, including Conrad Schnitzler, Front Line Assembly, Oscar Mulero, and Perc. Oddie and Sealey are renowned for delivering improvised explosive live performances that combine modular synth, drums, and live vocals. These performances have awed audiences at international festivals such as Berlin Atonal, Katharsis, and Unsound and techno temples such as Berghain, Tresor, and Khidi.
